Armoires: the versatile antique cupboard

Armoires: the versatile antique cupboard

Armoires from the past are very often reserved only for the bedrooms. But these beautiful armoires, some outrageously decorative while some simple and elegant relics, are quite versatile and can be utilized in a number of different ways.

These antique wardrobes will easily make themselves at home no matter where they are placed. There are many homes in the UK that are utilizing these even in the kitchens. With the surprisingly large amount of storage space available, these tend to be very functional for storage. With these armoires in the kitchen it really becomes a great mix and match of styles and colours.

Take for example our very recent acquisition, a painted 18th century armoire. This dated piece still retains its original paint and is simple yet elegant. With a good amount of storage place and a slightly unconventional shade, this will make one classy and functional piece.

We also have this Gustavian painted Housekeepers cupboard, a charming and elegant piece that will suit in the kitchen , dining room or most other locations. Even this piece still adorns its original paint and has a clock at the top which sets it apart even when it is otherwise quite simple. Originally owned by an aristocratic Spanish family, this appealing 19th century country cupboard is another beautiful example amongst our antique armoires.

We have many such fine examples that will make great decorative furniture items which are at the same time functional.
