It is backed with naturally-dyed 19th-century linen. Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo (11 May 1871 – 3 May 1949) was a Spanish fashion designer. The son of the painter Mariano Fortuny y Marsal, he started his couture house in 1906. His career in design spanned over 4 decades, during which he explored quite varied talents including painting, photography, sculpting, architecture, etching, and even theatrical stage lighting.
