Large & Fine Pair of C19th French Neoclassical Country House Bookcases
A Grand and impressive pair of C19th Neoclassical walnut Bookcases.
This superb quality pair of library bookcase cabinets have great proportions and strong Classical Architectural details with bold Dentil frieze and carved Lion mask Terminals to the projected architectural pillars.
The shaped and fielded panels to the doors and sides add to a sense of extra quality of craftsmanship to these cabinets that were originally made in the 1880s for a grand architectural building in Lyon, France and having resided there until recent acquisition by ourselves.
Original throughout, they have mellowed to a lovely walnut colour and retain their beautiful ‘wavy’ glass panels and ironmongery.
They present a rare opportunity to grandly furnish a country house/ City residence library/drawing room with an imposing pair of Bookcase/display Cabinets.
