Late 17th Century French Aubusson Tapestry

A late 17th century Aubusson Tapestry in wool and silk.

In the foreground, three curious animals are the stars of this tapestry. A deer and a sheep face each other, while a slender fox turns its back on them. The three of them frolic in a green undergrowth, in the shade of tall trees, under the gaze of two birds. Through a hole in the forest, a castle appears on the horizon. A border with garlands of fruit, flowers and acanthus leaves enriched by a few birds.
