Set of Five Early 19th century Dutch Delft Garniture, circa 1800s

A good five-piece Dutch Delft garniture, dating to circa 1800s, comprising three covered baluster vases and two smaller open vases, all decorated in the characteristic blue and white palette.

The three larger vases are surmounted by domed covers with elaborate scrolling and foliate finials, with the central vase having a distinctive and slightly different finial. The bodies are richly decorated with stylised shell and scrolling foliate ornament, enclosing finely painted Dutch river landscapes, with sailing vessels, buildings and church spires.

The two smaller vases are similarly decorated with panels of river and architectural landscapes, framed by bold scrolling ornament and heightened with finely painted cobalt-blue detail. The combination of the strong decorative motifs and varied landscape scenes gives the garniture considerable visual impact.

A charming and decorative late 18th-century Dutch Delft garniture, with the natural signs of age and use expected of pieces of this period.
