Charming pair of mid twentieth century ‘Tapa’ hand made and hand painted Polynesian panels from the South Pacific islands , Tonga, Samoa and Figi.
Polynesia circa 1950s Tapa cloth is made from the inner bark of trees,
most commonly the paper mulberry tree, which is soaked, beaten, and then felted or gummed together to form large sheets.
