Antique Zinc Sculpture of a Classical Female Nude

A very handsome late 19th to early 20th century zinc sculpture of a classical female nude, finely modelled in the round and inspired by the ideals of Greco-Roman antiquity. The elegantly posed female figure stands in a graceful contrapposto beside a naturalistic tree stump, her modest pose recalling the celebrated Venus Pudica type, while at her feet a pair of playful putti ride a dolphin, adding a charming mythological element to the composition.

Beautifully cast with finely detailed facial features. The weathered zinc surface has developed an attractive mottled grey patina, enhancing its sculptural quality and lending considerable period character.

Raised on a shaped circular base, this impressive sculpture would make a striking focal point in a grand interior, conservatory, orangery, or formal garden.
