Mid-20th Century French Gilded Bronze Standing Lamp, Attributed to Maison Baguès

A particularly elegant mid-20th century French standing lamp, attributed to Maison Baguès, finely worked in gilded bronze.

Of tall and beautifully balanced proportions, the lamp has a slender naturalistic stem, delicately modelled with stylised foliate and bamboo detailing, terminating in an elegant tripod base with three gracefully scrolling feet. The quality of the casting and refinement of the decorative details are particularly good, while the gently aged gilded surface has acquired a warm and attractive patina.

The combination of naturalistic ornament and restrained proportions is characteristic of the sophisticated decorative lighting produced in France during the middle decades of the 20th century and associated with the celebrated Parisian house of Maison Baguès.

The lamp has been recently professionally rewired for use in the UK and will mix well in either classic or contemporary interiors.
