Mid C20th French Faux-Bamboo Brass Standing Lamp, in the Manner of Maison Baguès

A very elegant mid-20th century French standing lamp, in the manner of Maison Baguès, finely fashioned in brass in the form of bamboo.

Of tall and particularly graceful proportions, the slender segmented stem is beautifully modelled to imitate bamboo and is raised on a delicate tripod base with three gently splayed faux-bamboo legs. The brass has retained a warm, mellow patina, enhancing the naturalistic detailing and giving the lamp considerable character.

The refined proportions and exotic influence are typical of the sophisticated decorative lighting associated with Maison Baguès in Paris during the middle decades of the 20th century.

Recently rewired for use in the UK and presented with a contemporary pleated check shade, this elegant floor lamp will work well in both classic and contemporary interiors.
