Unusual Barovier and Toso Murano Glass Lamp

This unusual Barovier and Toso Murano glass lamp is a real little gem. Shaped to resemble an old oil lamp, it has been cleverly designed with a dual purpose, so that it can be used as either a candle holder, which easily removes for cleaning, but can also be wired for use as a lamp.

The underside reveals the brass ring protected hole, where the cable threads through and even has a channel in the glass which the cable sits within, allowing the whole to sit flush upon a surface. The beautifully coloured gold flecked base and handle is surmounted by a pierced brass choker holding fast the swirl decorated clear glass funnel with pie crust rim. The underside also bearing the original paper backed foil label, which dates this piece to between 1936-55; likely made late 30s/early 40s.
