Wonderful pair of 19th Cent English Neoclassical Lights

A wonderful pair of early 19th century English Country House, gesso neoclassical Maidens, wearing classical ropes, holding a light aloft, been recently rewired to UK standards, and of pleasant proportions, that will make a statement in any setting.

The backs with the inscription, H. Hopper Sculp.

Humphrey Hopper ( 1765-1844) came to prominence after wining the gold medal from the Royal Academy in 1803 for the sculptural group quot;The Death of Melenger ” and became one of the leading suppliers of plaster figures in the early part of the 19th century. He exhibited frequently at the Royal Academy between 1799 and 1834 including amongst his oeuvre monuments and monumental figures, bust and figures for chimney pieces, occasionally executed in marble.
