A very large and decorative pair of 19th century French oil on canvas paintings in the style ofd Hubert Robert ( 1733-1808 ) “ Scenes of life in Ancient Landscapes “ on gilded frames. Restorations and wear commensurate with age and use.

Hubert Robert was a French painter in the school of Romanticism, noted especially for his landscape paintings and capricci, or semi-fictitious picturesque depictions of ruins in Italy and of France.

Born 22 May 1733, Paris, France and died on the 15 April 1808 (age 74 years), Paris, France
