Large Late 17th / Early 18th Century Flemish Tapestry in Wool and Silk
Superb late 17th/ early 18th century Flemish tapestry of large proportions in wool and silk depicting a wonderful classical garden and park scene
animated by two stilt walkers in the foreground near a fountain with a statue of a mythological goddess. Remarkable finely designed pool in the center near a French-style park which stands out against the background with an avenue of trees. Beautiful frame of lush vegetation including, in particular, a bird taking flight in the centre. Oudenaarde is a Belgian city and municipality in the Flemish province of East Flanders.
This elegant and wonderful tapestry will make a statement in most settings.
