Early 19th Century French Empire Mahogany Sofa

A very elegant, early 19th century French Empire period mahogany sofa, recently reupholstered by us in a neutral linen that will work well in most settings.

The sofa features a high, flat back and straight upholstered sides, framed by striking carved arm supports in the form of Egyptian female busts, a hallmark of the Empire style inspired by Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign. The serpentine front rail is raised on tapering front legs terminating in finely carved claw feet, while the elegant sabre back legs complete the silhouette.
