Early 19th Century English Regency Mahogany Bureau Bookcase

An elegant and finely proportioned English Regency period bureau bookcase, dating to the early 19th century and crafted in richly figured Cuban mahogany.

The upper section is enclosed by a pair of glazed astragal doors with graceful Gothic-inspired tracery, opening to reveal adjustable shelving for books or decorative objects. Above, the moulded pediment with shaped corner finials and a central lozenge inlay adds a distinctive architectural presence.

The bureau falls opens to reveal a fitted interior in contrasting satinwood and mahogany, arranged with an array of small drawers, pigeonholes and central compartments, designed for correspondence and personal papers. The original brass stays support the writing surface, creating a practical desk while preserving the elegant proportions of the cabinet.

Below, a pair of panelled cupboard doors open to generous shelved storage, making this an exceptionally versatile piece suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
