Fine Early 19th Century English Regency Mahogany Library Bookcase

An impressive Regency mahogany library bookcase of grand scale and particularly handsome architectural proportions, dating to the early 19th century.

The upper section is surmounted by a moulded cornice and distinctive shaped architectural pediment, above four tall glazed doors with elegant arched astragal glazing. The doors open to reveal a generously proportioned shelved interior, offering excellent display and library storage.

The lower section is arranged with four well-figured mahogany panelled doors, enclosing fixed shelving, and is raised on a substantial plinth base. Particularly attractive is the rich figuring and warm colour of the mahogany, which has developed a pleasing patina.

A very decorative and practical Regency bookcase, its restrained architectural detailing and impressive scale making it particularly well suited to a library, drawing room or large country-house interior.
