Small 19th Century French Walnut Commode in the Louis XVI Taste

A charming small-scale French walnut commode in the Louis XVI taste, retaining its original grey Sainte-Anne marble top with rounded front corners. The commode is fitted with three long drawers, each retaining its original escutcheons and brass drop handles.

The elegant form is enhanced by rounded, fluted corner uprights, tapering turned feet to the front and square rear legs, all reflecting the restrained neoclassical style popular during the 19th century. The warm walnut has acquired a rich, mellow patina, beautifully contrasted by the veined grey marble.

Its compact proportions make it an ideal bedside chest, hall commode or accent piece in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Wonderful patina.
