Late 18th Century French Louis XVI Period Mahogany Semainier

An elegant Louis XVI period semainier in finely figured mahogany and mahogany veneer, dating from the late 18th century. This refined chest is fitted with seven drawers, one for each day of the week, retaining its original brass escutcheons and drop handles.

The clean, neoclassical design is framed by rounded, fluted corner uprights terminating in tapering turned feet, while the whole is surmounted by its original grey Sainte-Anne marble top with rounded front corners. The rich mahogany has developed a deep, warm patina, beautifully complementing the cool tones and veining of the marble.

Of particularly elegant proportions, this semainier offers generous storage while maintaining a relatively narrow footprint, making it equally suited to a bedroom, dressing room, hallway or reception room.
