Pair of 19th-Century French Mahogany Bedside Cabinets

An elegant matched pair of 19th-century French mahogany bedside cabinets, distinguished by their unusual rounded architectural form and rich, warm patina.

Each cabinet features a fluted cylindrical body, raised on a substantial faceted octagonal plinth base and finished with a moulded circular top inset with pale marble. The vertically fluted mahogany gives the pieces a refined neoclassical character while cleverly disguising the cabinet doors within the curvature of the façade.

Each concealed hinged door opens to reveal a warm timber-lined interior with a fitted shelf, providing discreet and practical bedside storage, ( wear commensurate with age and use ). The doors retain their brass hinges and are thoughtfully constructed to preserve the continuous fluted appearance when closed.

With their sculptural proportions, handsome mahogany figuring and contrasting marble tops, these cabinets work equally well as bedside tables, lamp tables or occasional pedestals. A particularly decorative and versatile pair, combining understated French elegance with practical storage.
