Pair of Circa 1800 Chinoiserie Lacquer Press Cupboards

An extraordinary pair of chinoiserie lacquer press cupboards, circa 1800. The lacquer and Japanned decoration incorporates exotic pavilions, mountainous landscapes trees , plants and figures.

These amazing cabinets were once in the collection of the Honourable Daisey Fellows the legendary heiress of the Singer sewing machine fortune. She was renowned for her taste and style.

Condition report:

The cabinets typical of the period are constructed of oriental lawyer screen panels, the decoration slightly altered with European Japanning to fit the furniture they were incorporated in. The lower drawers have been relined and the upper shelves replaced. Lacquer refreshed.
