Unusual and Stylish Mid 20th Cent Belgium Console Table by Willy Daro

WILLY DARO table (Belgium, active from the 1950s to the 1990s).
Marble and metal.
A good quality, mid 20th century Belgium console table by Willy Daro with stylised aesthetic which is supported by a golden-coloured organic support, like aquatic vegetation, which in turn gives way to two round sculptures facing each other. These sculptures take the form of two wading birds whose heads support the marbled marble panel.
Unfortunately, little biographical information is known about the Belgian designer Willy Daro. We know that, during the 1950s and 1970s, he worked in the field of design and lighting. Owner of Les Nouveaux Ateliers, Willy Daro worked in Brussels from 1960 to 1987. His pieces are elegant and full of movement, and he often used agate as the dramatic focus, a very fashionable stone during the 1960s
